The September Review

Welcome to the Dogwoof monthly review, where each month we will be sharing with you our highlights, top sellers, recommendations and top news.

In Cinemas: 

This month started out huge with Finding Fela, Alex gibney's bio-doc on Nigerian musician and political activist Fela Kuti, having a major cinema release - the film is still running at the Odeon Panton St. in London and around the UK.

Our newest release The Last Impresario, about theatre producer Michael White, opened on 26th September. On Monday before we held a fabulous release event at the Electric Cinema in Notting Hill, including a Q&A with director Gracie Otto and a host of special guests - you can read more about it and see pictures from the event here.

The Dogwoof Weekender was a 3-day film extravaganza of six previews of our upcoming autumn films at the ICA to celebrate 10 years of Dogwoof. The Weekender included Manakamana (12 December), The Overnighters (31st October), Concerning Violence (28th November), Life Itself (14th November), The Case Against 8 (7th November) and The Last Impresario (out now).

"Before I saw 'Abendland', I used to like documentaries for the interviews and the talking. This film, lacking in both, totally turned my understanding of docs upside down and immediately became my favourite film. Watch it on the biggest screen you can."

New films: We have announced that we will be releasing Joshua Oppenheimer's The Look of Silence and have international rights for Love Is All.

What to look for in October:

Cinema release of Nas: Time is Illmatic which will also screen with a Q&A at the London Film Festival and The Overnighters.

DVD release of Supermensch: The Legend of Shep Gordon and The Last Impresario - there is also a pre-order competition running for exclusive signed merchandise here.
