New Dogwoof acquisition - Blackfish

Dogwoof has secured both UK and foreign rights for Gabriela Cowperthwaite’s extraordinary documentary Blackfish, with a UK theatrical release scheduled for the summer.
“For me, Blackfish is the first film since Grizzly Man to show just how nature can get revenge on man when pushed to its limits. We are delighted to be working again with Submarine, handling this film consolidates Dogwoof's position as a key player for documentary." said Anna Godas, Dogwoof CEO.
Blackfish premiered at Sundance to strong critical reviews and audience reaction. The film tells the story of Tilikum, a performing whale that killed several people while in captivity. Along the way, director-producer Gabriela Cowperthwaite compiles shocking footage and emotional interviews to explore the creature’s dual nature, the lives and losses of the trainers and the pressures brought to bear by the sea-park industry.
