Dogwoof in Busan and Rio

You may have noticed this week London Film Festival opened, but it's by no means the only film festival happening, this week we had our Vesna at Busan International Film Festival and Ana at Rio Film Festival.

Ana was at Rio with three films: InRealLife, The Network, and international sensation Blackfish. Beeban Kidron director of InRealLife travelled to the festival as well and the organisers put on a special teachers and educators screening - right in the middle of a week of protests on the Brazilian public education sector - but by all accounts the screening went off without a hitch, the audience loved it and Beeban loved the questions posed. It was the first screening in Latin America and the first dip in the water for the film outside of an English speaking audience, which bodes well for the film's international profile.

Alongside the screenings Ana had meetings with a host of buyers and generally had a smashing time, her highlight would be the festival staff who were warm, friendly and helpful. I think she'll be back.

Meanwhile, across the globe, Vesna was in Busan again filling her diary meeting filmmakers, distributors and buyers, some new acquaintances and some familiar faces - but in an exotic Asian setting with a focus on Asia.

She did manage to sneak in time to catch up with the director and producer of our charming film Planet of Snail and Ryan Harrington of Tribeca Film Institute, and attend the odd reception.

All this was set against the backdrop of the unfolding drama of a typhoon sweeping up against the coast of China. Aside from torrential rain and howling winds, Vesna pulled through.

So we're all relieved that our two sales women are intact, but no rest as Vesna is now off to Medimed in Spain this weekend. We're all knocking wood for no typhoons or protests.
